Philhealth Dependents — Child Under 21 and Pregnant

If you are PREGNANT, and you are  younger than 21, unmarried, and unemployed, you can be a dependent of your mother or father who is a Philhealth member.  You will be able to avail of your maternity benefit as dependent.

But it is advised that you register as Philhealth member so that your baby will be covered by Philhealth.  You cannot use your parent’s Philhealth for your baby, in case your baby needs further treatment.

Your baby will be YOUR dependent.  Your baby CANNOT be a dependent of your parents.

Additional reminder:  If you’re younger than 19, and you want to use Philhealth for your delivery, you should give birth in a hospital, not at a lying-in or maternity clinic. Source: Maternity Care Package Rules

    • Hi bella, your daughter should pay for 3 months (Jan to March 2015) ASAP, this week, so she can avail in March. She should register at Philhealth with her ID so she can get her MDR and card. She can pay for Jan to June or Jan to Dec, so her coverage is continuous. God bless too

    • Hi Dian, yes, you can use your father’s Philhealth, but if this is for giving birth, it is best that you register at Philhealth with your ID or barangay cert or birth cert and pay as member so that your baby will also be covered by Philhealth. Your father’s Philhealth cannot cover your baby.

  2. Hi I’m a member of philhealth I paid June 2016 till 2019….and my daughter is my dependent 18 yrs old will due March 2017…is she covered of maternity benefits..

    • Hi Lor, yes, your Philhealth can cover her as your dependent. But I suggest that you let her register as member so her baby can be covered as her own dependent. Her baby cannot be your dependent because she or he’ll be your grandchild, and grandchildren can’t be dependents, only minor children. If you’re sure her due is March, she can register and start paying in Jan 2017 for Jan to March — she can use it in March 2017.

    • Hi Luz, you can cover your daughter’s delivery in July, but because she already has her baby by that time, she should already be a paid member by that time, in case the baby needs further care. She should register in April and pay for April to June, so she can use her Philhealth both for herself and her baby. She can register this month, if you like, but she will also pay for Jan to March and then Apr to June.

    • Hi marie, mas okay na mag-member siya para maging dependent niya ang baby nia. Magbayad na ngayon ng Jan to May or Jan to June. In October, 9 monthly payments na ang required, so it’s good na every month na ay babayaran.

  4. Hi! I’m 20 turning 21 by the 2nd week May. Giving birth by End of April or First Week of May. May I still be a dependent of my father? Since I’m an active member, But its been 6 months since the last time I was able to pay for my contributions, my parents told me that I have to be a dependent to avail those benefits when I give birth. Can you please give a another option? Thank you!

    • Hi Laze, sorry I’m replying late. But I wish you paid for Jan to March so your baby will be your dependent. Yes, you can still be a dependent before you turn 21. But you said you registered as a member. Philhealth’s policy is you can not be a dependent and member at the same time. If you were not able to pay for Jan to March, ask your father to get his MDR so he can see if you are registered as his dependent, so you can use his MDR.

    • Hi Peter, yes, your wife can use your Philhealth in Feb 2019 as long as you have paid Philhealth for at least 9 months within March 2018 to Feb 2019. Make sure her name is included on your MDR as your dependent. Your newborn will also be your dependent, so newborn care can be availed of. You can also submit at least 1,500 pesos worth of prenatal checkups or meds so you can be refunded 1,500 by Philhealth.

    • Hi Ken, active Philhealth member ka? If member ka, iregister mo na dependent mo ang baby mo. Fill up registration form. Check FOR UPDATING. Bring your baby’s birth certificate (orig and copy)

  6. Can I use my Philheath for my pregnant girlfriend. She’s about to deliver our child this September.

    • Hi Alexander, sorry, no, because you’re not married to her. However, you can use your philhealth for your child, but you need your name to be written as the father on the birth certificate. If you like, or if there’s a chance your girlfriend will undergo a Cesarean Section (it’s sensible to have Philhealth since CS is expensive), you can register her with Philhealth. Just bring her ID. Or you can download the enrollment form, let her sign, then bring to a Philhealth office.
