According to the Philippine National Statistics office, here are the top ten causes of death in the Philippines as of 2007.

| Tuberculosis | 5.4 % |
| Chronic lower respiratory diseases | 4.8 % |
| Diabetes mellitus | 4.8 % |
| Assault | 2.8 % |
| Perinatal-period illnesses | 2.8 % |
| Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and neprosis | 2.8 % |
The data, however, shows that ALL OTHER CAUSES account for 27 percent of all deaths, the highest percent. In data for previous years, accidents were included as one of the major causes of deaths in the Philippines. It was not indicated if accidents are included in ALL OTHER CAUSES.
Notes:
- Malignant neoplasm refers to the growth of cancerous body tissues.
- Perinatal period refers to the days immediatey before birth and 28 days after birth.
- Nephritis is inflammation of nephrons in the kidneys.
- Nephrosis is a kidney disease. It can mean high levels of protein in the urine or low protein levels in the blood or high cholesterol levels.
