    • Hi Dewey, several private hospitals have their own bite treatment facilities, like St Luke’s, so just call your favorite private hospital and ask if they have anti-rabies or animal bite treatment. Muntinlupa? Try calling Medical Center Muntinlupa or Alabang Medical Center near Isuzu or Alabang Medical Clinic along Montillano St.

    • Hi sheila, visit Taytay RHU and ask. Even if you’re not able to use Philhealth, injection costs are lower, compared to private clinics.

    • Hi may, you should have presented your Philhealth papers before treatment/payment so the benefit would have been deducted. Sorry I’m not sure if San Lazaro claims for refunds

  3. Good Day! Can I claim for reimbursement for animal bite? philhealth dependent of my husband. was bitten by a cat May 20. Initial injection was at a private hospital then I went to PGH to restart my treatment. But I need to be injected with ERIG, out of stock at pgh so I had the injection at San Lazaro Hospital. I paid 3723 and I want to refund it. I’ll have my last injection at PGH on June 20.

    • Hi Grace, the animal bite benefit should be deducted by the center, so your Philhealth papers should have been presented before treatment or payment. No direct filing with Philhealth. Sorry I’m not sure if San Lazaro accepts claims for refunds.

    • Hi Aika, coverage is 3k. Keep your receipts. Submit your Philhealth papers. Ask their Philhealth policy, whether you file upon first injection or before last injection.

  7. In an emergency, and you were not aware of eligibility for Philhealth coverage thus you didn’t bring requirements, how can one risk postponing getting the required inoculations for the anti rabies. I suppose the patient needs to pay the amount first, then submit the documents, and wait for about two months for the facility to be paid by Philhealth before it processes reimbursement to the payor.

  10. I was bitten by a dog last april this year and had anti rabies at san lazaro before I left for africa. Now I’m here in africa and I got bitten again by a puppy that was not vaccinated with anti rabbies. How long can my anti rabies vaccine that I had last april this year last? Up to when will this antirabies be effective for humans? Pls reply im worried.

    • Hi Gerrard, sorry I’m not a doctor, but I researched online, and the 2-injection vaccine can last up to 2 to 3 years. Did you complete the 3 or 4-injection antirabies treatment last April? If yes, I think you’re protected. But of course we can’t be too sure. Observe the puppy. If it remains healthy over 10 days, then most likely, it does not have rabies. Ask also Pinoys there about getting antirabies there in Africa. You can also ask your family to make inquiries at San Lazaro about your case.
