Symptoms of Dengue Covered by Philhealth under its Case Rate Payment Scheme

The following information is from Philhealth Circular No. 011-A-2011, signed by the Philhealth President and CEO on August 5, 2011.

DENGUE I

This Dengue I case rate benefit package is worth 8,000 pesos.
It covers  Dengue Fever and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Grades I and II.

Dengue Fever:
There is acute fever with 2 or more symptoms. Some symptoms are headache, rash, myalgia, arthralgia, retro-orbital pain, signs of hemorrhaging, leucopenia.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, Grade I and Grade II
All the following signs and symptoms are present:
– Fever lasting 2 to 7 days
– Spontaneous bleeding, as shown by positive tourniquet test
– Thrombocytopenia (platelet count is 100 x 10(to the 9th) platelets per liter or less, or 100,000 platelets per microliter or less)
– Plasma leakage, as shown by hemoconcentrations only or pleural effusions or ascites only, or both

ICD Codes Covered under Dengue I Package: A90, A91.0, A91.1 and A91.9

DENGUE II

This Dengue II case rate benefit package is worth 16,000 pesos.
It covers Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Grades III and IV.

Symptoms: All symptoms in Dengue I plus symptoms of Dengue Shock Syndrome

ICD Codes covered under Dengue II Package: A91.2 and A91.3

Dengue-like Symptoms Not Covered by Philhealth:

– Undifferentiated Fever
– Asymptomatic Dengue Viral Infections

Notes:

– Dengue II cases in Level 1 hospitals are paid by Philhealth as Dengue I package.

– Platelet counts and hemoglobin and hematocrit results are attached to Philhealth claims.
